| Project summary... |
| The SJEP aims at creating two CCEs, one based at the Technical University of Kosice (TUK) and serving all in Košice (i.e. TUK, University of Pavol Jozef Safarik, University of Veterinary Medicine) and one CCE at the University of Zilina (UZ). The aim of the project is also to prepare CCE managerial staff, management strategy and to prepare the CCE teachers for maximally effective information delivery, to link the CCE with educational networks and to form the structure of a network of co-operating Institutions. A function that is subsequent to fulfilling the aims of this SJEP is the demand analysis, co-ordination of course design, preparation of teaching materials, marketing. Another important aim is to introduce a new type of continual care after university graduates which would enable a systematic updating and upgrading of their knowledge with possible retraining for carrier modification. |

| Training of CCE administrative and teaching staff
CCE managers training - training in the field of proactive management, demand analysis, marketing and in professional skills. Teacher training - in the area of total quality management and professional skills needed for intensive course delivery. For both groups: training to become acquainted with database systems and the latest achievements in the area of information and communication technology. |
| Development of modular curricula and teaching materials
Development of modular curriculum. Mobility of Slovakian teachers to the partner institutions. Assessment of the demands in Slovakia. Seminar to synthesise the Western European and Slovakian information on best course areas and content. Preparation of modular tuition packages in the selected subject areas. The following Working Groups (WGs) covering the corresponding subject areas were created: WG1 - Environmental Law, WG2 - Environmental Management, WG3 - Information Technology, WG4 - Telecommunication Technology, WG5 - Clean Technologies.<SMERNIK NA LIST OF COURSES TO BE DEVELOPED> |
| Upgrading of teaching and educational facilities
CCEs will have the upgraded lecture, seminar and workshop rooms that enables intensive, high quality tuition in all the subject areas considered. |
| Language preparation
The language tuition aims at increasing the language proficiency to a degree enabling efficient professional communication and later course marketing to foreign customers. |

| Establishment
of the Institute of Life-long education
and the Centre for Continuing Education. |
| The Institute of Life-long Education (ILLE) (including the Centre for Continuing Education) was established at the Technical university of Kosice in September 1996. ILLE is responsible for development and management of life-long learning and continuing education courses for industry, service sector, local government, and NGOs in the region of East Slovakia. |

of Classrooms at
the Centres of Continuing Education (CCEs). |
| The classrooms are equipped with necessary hardware and software as well as video systems and are ready for delivering CE courses. The established computer classrooms became a core facility within CCEs. |
